Mallay’s Royal challenger will be red in First year.

March 31, 2008

Bangaluru: Yes it true, the Mallay’s Royal challengers will be Red for the first year not only in their costumes but also in their profitability. The chief executive of the flamboyant Mallay’s Royal challengers said that during the first year of operation, they are going to have net loss of approximately 25-35 corers. The Vijay Mally’s UB group won the Bangalore franchise for whooping $111.6 Million is expecting to reach its breakeven in next 6-7 years. But this is a mere prediction. No one knows actually when breakeven is going to be achieved for most of the IPL franchise.

The reality is very different from what people are generally thinking about the IPL (Indian premier League) franchise. In fact this is a very expensive league. The expert believes that if the sponsorship and the merchandising for the teams pick up, then there are chances that break even could be achieved in the stipulated time. But this is quite unrealistic projection considering current trends.

The main point to worry about these franchises is not only finding sponsors but also they have to fight with the unpredictable BCCI. As recently the percentage of stadium seats available with the franchise has been amended. Now the franchise has only 80% of the seats available with them and the rest 20% has been given to the respective state associations. And more over the sharing of seats category is also not clear. But the Charu shama, chief executive of Royal challengers said that we will look at this sharing formula very seriously because the category wise distribution of seats across the stadiums in India is not uniform. And this can affect our revenue up to a great extent.

Exhibition Match at Lords by IPL

Two famous cricket clubs of England are joining hands, don’t worry not for match fixing, but for converting a proposal by IPL (Indian Premier League) into a reality.

Yes it is true!

IPL has proposed for an exhibition match involving its participating teams at the famous Lords and Oval grounds respectively.

It is believed that after getting mind boggling television right deals over whooping 1000crore, the IPL is now trying to go international.

As this is one of the several steps taken by IPL to achieve its much ambitious plan of creating a world class professional cricket league on the pattern of EPL (English premier League)

It is reported that two clubs are taking the IPL offer very interestingly. But Surrey chief Paul Sheldon has declined about any such offers.

But cricket lover in UK need not to worry as this speculation, will soon over as the the matches are proposed during the inaugural of IPL matches which are going to start from 18th April to 1st of June.

The IPL advantage

The biggest advantage with IPL(Indian premier league) is the forced backing from all the the cricket board from all over the world. As every one knows that, IPL is BCCI baby, so it is doing every possible efforts to grow and nurture its baby, but mind it, only in Ideal laboratory conditions.

It is saving its so called baby The IPL form the fierce competition , started because of the Initiation of Indian Cricket leagues by Zee group. The main advantage with the BCCI is as most of the people think its cash rich kitty, but this is not true. ICL ( Indian Cricket League) has several times more powerful financial muscles then the BCCI.
But BCCI has the advantage of Infrastructure and support from International cricket fraternity, especially the ICC ( International Cricket Council). Through using this , it has warned all International and domestic cricketer from a possible blackouts in case if they opt for joining ICL (Indian Cricket League).

IPL is not being allowed to face the real world, it is being mushrooming under the safe and protected roof of BCCI and other cricketing bodies.
